Joseph Mutinda, the third-born in a family of four, faced significant challenges from a young age. His father, a hardworking peasant farmer, and his mother, a dedicated househelp, struggled to provide for their family. Despite their best efforts, the financial burden of raising four children proved to be overwhelming.

Joseph’s academic journey was marked by both promise and hardship. He excelled in elementary school, demonstrating a keen intellect and a strong work ethic. However, the prospect of attending high school seemed distant due to financial constraints. His older brother, unfortunately, had to drop out of school in form three due to a lack of funds.

A glimmer of hope emerged when Joseph’s dedicated elementary school teacher pleaded with the principal of Matinyani Boys High School to admit him, even without the necessary fees. This act of compassion opened a door to a brighter future.

The Charles Musyoka Matuku Foundation recognized Joseph’s potential and stepped in to provide crucial financial support. Their generous assistance enabled Joseph to enroll at Matinyani Boys High School and pursue his academic aspirations.

With unwavering determination and a grateful heart, Joseph is working hard to excel in his studies. He is determined to make the most of this opportunity and to repay the kindness of the foundation by achieving academic excellence.
