My name is Hezron Kitheka, from Kitui County, Kenya. I am a third-born in a family of five and was raised by a single mother in such a financially-challenged family. My mother could not afford to cater for our basic needs and also pay for our education. My two elder brothers dropped out of school for lack of school fees.

Hence, when in 2013 I passed my KCPE examination and was called to join Kitui High School, a boarding school maintained by the government, I knew my mother could not afford the school fees, so I opted to join a day school in our neighborhood. My mother, who was also working as a house-help, shared her financial challenges regarding my school fees with her employer. Her employer introduced us to Charles Musyoka Matuku Foundation, who started to support me in my education. The foundation took over payment of
my school fees and transferred me to Kitui High School.

CMMF also continued supporting me in my educational journey even after I joined Maasai Mara University in 2018, from where I graduated in December of 2022 with a bachelor&arts degree in financial economics. Finally, the foundation has offered me a job in its office, to work as a Field Officer. I am truly grateful to CMMF for bringing light into my life.
